Caramel Dumplings

Ingredients
  • DUMPLINGS
  • 1¼ cup SR flour
  • Pinch salt
  • 60 grams butter
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • SAUCE
  • 60 grams butter
  • 1½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1½ cups water
Method
  • DUMPLINGS
  • Sift flour and salt into bowl. Rub in butter with tips of fingers
  • Add sugar
  • Add combined milk and vanilla.
  • Use a teaspoon to scoop equal quantities of the dumpling mixture onto the lined tray (use a second teaspoon to carefully release the dumpling mixture from the first spoon)
  • SAUCE
  • Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan
  • Stir constantly until boiling
  • Reduce heat
  • Drop dumplings into simmering sauce. Cover. Simmer 20 minutes
  • Serve warm with sauce and custard or cream
