Cookie’s Apple Slice

Information about Karen: Karen and her husband Les have inherited some wonderful recipes passed down from family members. She is an amazing "home" cook and everyone goes back for seconds. Karen has kindly shared some of her amazing recipes with us for this site.


Information about this recipe: Karen was given this recipe by her mother-in-law, Joan Myors. Joan in turn was given the recipe from a lady from Bourke by the name of Cookie Tully. This recipe is a big hit in the "Myors Family". Tips: Any tin fruit can be used, just make sure it is mashed. Thickened cream also works.

Ingredients
  • 1 pkt Vanilla/Butter Cake Mix
  • 1 cup Coconut
  • 125 g Margarine, melted
  • 850 g Pie Apples, canned
  • 300 ml Sour Cream
  • Cinnamon
Method
  • Mix together cake mix, coconut, and margarine
  • Press into Lamington tin
  • Bake 10 minutes in a 180C oven
  • Cool 5 minutes
  • Cover with pie apples and then sour cream
  • Sprinkle over cinnamon
  • Bake 30 minutes in a 180C oven
