Creamed Rice

Information about Karen: Karen and her husband Les have inherited some wonderful recipes passed down from family members. She is an amazing "home" cook and everyone goes back for seconds. Karen has kindly shared some of her amazing recipes with us for this site.


Information about this recipe: This recipe was passed onto Karen from her Aunty Betty, who also lived in the Wanaaring area for many years. This has been a Robinson (Karen's maiden name) family favourite from her generation down.

Ingredients
  • 1 Litre Milk
  • 1/2 cup Rice, washed
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 tspn Vanilla Essence
  • Nutmeg sprinkled on top
Method
  • Mix all ingredients together
  • Pour into a baking / pyrex dish
  • Sprinkle on Nutmeg
  • Cook in 150C oven for 2 hours
